n8n Video Automation

Render videos in your n8n workflows with the verified Shotstack node.

How it works

  • Step 1

    Add the Shotstack node

Install @shotstack/n8n-nodes-shotstack, then add a credential with an API key from your Shotstack dashboard.

  • Step 2

    Render a template

Choose Render Template and map each field of your data, such as a spreadsheet row or a form response, to a merge field in your template.

  • Step 3

    Send the video on

The node waits for the render and returns a hosted URL. Pass it to the next node to post, email or upload the video.

What you can do with n8n

  • Give an AI agent a video tool

The Shotstack node also works as a tool for an AI Agent node. Point the agent at a template render: filling a few merge fields is more reliable than writing a whole timeline.

  • Generate AI assets

Make an image, video or audio file from a text prompt with Generate Asset, then use its URL in a later render.

  • Render a full edit

Paste a complete Shotstack edit into Render Asset when each video needs its own timeline, not just new values in a template.

Questions

Is the Shotstack node verified by n8n?
Yes. The node is built and maintained by Shotstack and verified by n8n. On an n8n instance, the owner installs it once and then everyone on the instance can use it.
Why does my video show placeholders like {{ADDRESS}}?
Map every merge field on each render. The fields you send replace the template's saved values, so a field you leave out renders as its raw placeholder.
How do I make the template?
Save a video as a template with merge fields. You can design it in Studio, ask an AI agent connected to the Shotstack MCP server, or send it with the API.
